“Rise” is one of my most personal compositions. I wanted to depict a scene of a sun rising, but also use this image as a metaphor to a similar transitional state in life.
This piece consists of three contrasting sections, each based on the ideas I came up with at different times of my life and representing different stages of the night-to-sunrise transition (also in human life). All three sections are connected through the development of the shared motives that appear and transform throughout the piece.
First section is an illustration of darkness, deep contemplation in a state of uncertainty, second is a glimpse of hope and light, and the last section represents the revival, a triumph of the human spirit as the sun rises over darkness.
